Recently I discovered The Ordinary, a skincare brand from the Deciem group. Which basically define itself as a Chemistry brand company (click here if you want to learn more). All their products are super efficient, cruelty-free and more important, respect your health and the environment.
To talk more about The Ordinary, it is the most affordable brand of the group. But it doesn’t mean their product aren’t good. In the contrary, just for you to imagine, I completely rebuilt my nighttime and daytime routine for less than 90CHF (≈75€) and it totally changed my skin texture and appearance. Which is crazy! I never felt so confident about my skin.
Because one picture speaks more than a thousand words, I’ve put at the end of this article a before/after picture of my face.
My skincare routine isn’t completely made of Deciem product but mostly, that’s why I wanted to introduce you to this brand and also because it’s budget-friendly. And please, note that this post isn’t sponsored or whatever, I’ve tried all the products I am talking about and I love them. I also bought all the product by myself.
you’ll find all the links to buy the products at the end of the article.
I always start by cleansing my face with the Milky Jelly Cleanser from Glossier. I apply it on a damp face then rinse it with lukewarm water, dry it with a towel and tada! After that, If I’ve worn mascara, I remove the rest of makeup I have on my lashes with the Biocils Lash Optimizer eye makeup remover from Biotherm.
Then, with a cotton pad, I apply all over my face the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution from The Ordinary. Just be careful and do not apply it around the eyes.
Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This one contains Aloe Vera, Ginseng, and Tasmanian Pepperberry which prevent the skin from being irritated. If like me you have a lot of scares, it’s going to be your best friend for a quick and visible improvement.
Also to help me fight acne, my doctor prescribed me a topical antibiotic which I put twice a week for six weeks. I used it after my tonic and before my serum and cream.
Before the cream, I apply a serum also from The Ordinary. The one I use is the Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%. The ingredients are known for being the most powerful and important antioxidants in skincare. And this formula combines a very high concentration, skincare formulations generally incorporate less than 1% of these antioxidants.
Then as a moisturizer, I use cold pressed Rosehip Seed oil also from The Ordinary. The benefits of this oil are amazing. To name just a few, it helps reduces the appearance of scars, burns and stretch marks, treats fine lines and wrinkles, it is also great for eczema and psoriasis, and of course, it hydrates your skin!
I also alternate sometimes with a Vitamin C formula from The Ordinary. Usually when I feel that my skin is dull and tired. This product contains pure form of L-Ascorbic Acid which helps reverse multiple signs of skin aging while brightening the skin.
5. Complementary step
10-Minute Exfoliating Facial
Once a week, I apply the aha 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution from The Ordinary. It offers me a deeper exfoliation and helps fight visible blemishes. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture.
Before / After
As promised, here is the before/after pictures. I took a picture once a week for a month and you can see that the results were visible already after one week.
